James T. Slater is a bilingual American songwriter and pianist based in Nashville. Born in North Carolina, he grew up in the Panama Canal Zone, developing a unique musical style blending pop, country and Latin influences. After spending six years in Zurich while touring with the band Vaya Con Dios, he settled permanently in Nashville in 2002.

Signed to BMG Music Publishing, his songs have been recorded by some of the biggest names in music, including Willie Nelson, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Luke Combs, Keith Urban, Lady A formerly Lady Antebellum, Reba, Old Dominion, Kellie Pickler, Gloriana, Runaway June, Enrique Iglesias, Chris Isaak and many others.

Awards and Nominations
·        Grammy Awards (Two nominations): Nominated for Country Song of the Year with The High Cost of Living (performed by Jamey Johnson), and for In My Daughter’s Eyes (performed by Martina McBride).
·        BMI Awards: Winner of a BMI Country Award and a BMI Pop Award in 2006 for the major success of In My Daughter’s Eyes.
